On Friday 6 February, we launched our Centenary year with a very special Biggest Talking Café at the Brewhouse Theatre in Taunton, a warm, open event that brought together community members, volunteers, partners and supporters for a day of conversation, connection and celebration.
Guests joined us throughout the day to enjoy hot drinks, cakes, and informal chats in a welcoming, accessible space. We were delighted to welcome both old friends and new faces, including Janet Montgomery, the High Sheriff of Somerset, who spent time in conversation with visitors and staff.
We were also joined by several local organisations that provide a variety of support to people and communities across Somerset, helping to showcase the breadth of local services available.
This Centenary marks 100 years of Thrive working alongside communities across Somerset, reducing isolation, strengthening local action, and supporting people when they need it most. Friday’s event reflected exactly what our work has always been about: being open, inclusive and rooted in real conversations with local people.
As we look to the future, this special Talking Café set the tone for a year of Centenary activities. Thank you to everyone who joined us, supported us, volunteered, chatted, or simply stopped by to say hello.
Your presence helped make the day truly special.
Here’s to the next 100 years and many more conversations to come.
